Federal Window & Door Energy Efficiency Incentives
Advanced Window Products is proud to offer high-performance windows and doors that not only enhance your home’s comfort but also qualify for federal energy efficiency programs. By upgrading to our ENERGY STAR® rated products, you can take advantage of valuable tax credits, rebates, and grants that lower the cost of your investment. Below is an overview of the key federal programs available in 2025 for energy-efficient windows and doors, including how much you can get back, who qualifies, how to apply, and where to get started.
Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit (Federal Tax Credit)
This tax credit helps homeowners save money when they replace old windows or doors with new ENERGY STAR® certified products. You can claim 30% of the product cost as a credit on your federal income taxes, reducing your tax bill directly.
- Credit amount: 30% of the cost, up to $600 for qualifying windows/skylights and $500 for qualifying exterior doors (capped at $250 per door).
- Eligibility: Homeowners who live in the home as their primary residence. Renters and landlords of rental properties are not eligible.
- Requirements: Products must be ENERGY STAR® certified. Windows/skylights must be ENERGY STAR® Most Efficient; doors must meet ENERGY STAR® standards.
- Application process: Claim the credit using IRS Form 5695 when filing your federal income tax return. Keep product certification and receipts for your records.

Home Efficiency Rebates (IRA “HOMES” Program)
The HOMES rebate program, created under the Inflation Reduction Act, provides upfront rebates for whole-home energy upgrades, which can include efficient windows and doors. Savings are based on the total energy reduction your project achieves.
- Rebate amount: Up to $4,000 for projects that cut household energy use by 35% or more; up to $2,000 for 20% savings. Rebates are doubled for low- and moderate-income households.
- Eligibility: Both homeowners and renters may qualify. Rental property owners can apply if tenants benefit from the upgrades. Second homes and short-term rentals are excluded.
- Requirements: Upgrades must achieve at least 15–20% whole-home energy savings, verified through an audit or energy modeling.
- Application process: Rebates are distributed by state energy offices under federal DOE guidance. Work with a participating contractor and apply through your state program once available.

Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP)
This federally funded program provides no-cost energy efficiency upgrades for income-qualified households. Improvements may include window and door replacements when recommended by a home energy audit.
- Benefit: Free upgrades such as insulation, air sealing, and high-performance windows or doors (based on audit recommendations).
- Eligibility: Low-income households (generally up to 200% of the federal poverty level). Available to both homeowners and renters, with landlord approval.
- Requirements: Eligibility verified through local agencies. Priority is given to seniors, people with disabilities, families with children, and households with high energy burdens.
- Application process: Apply through your local Weatherization Assistance agency, which will conduct an energy audit and schedule approved upgrades at no cost.
