By upgrading to our energy-efficient (ENERGY STAR® rated) products, you can take advantage of cash rebates and incentive programs that reduce the cost of your investment. Below is an overview of key residential rebate programs in Idaho (excluding federal incentives) for energy-efficient windows and doors, including how much you can get back, who qualifies, how to apply, and where to get started.
Rocky Mountain Power – Wattsmart Homes Window Rebates (Idaho)
Rocky Mountain Power offers cash rebates for high-efficiency window replacements. Sliding/french doors with ≥80% glass can qualify as windows. Incentives depend on your home’s electric heating or cooling and the window U-factor.
- Rebate amount: $40 per window for homes with electric heat; $15 per window for homes with electric cooling (but non-electric heat) or dual-fuel heat pumps. All qualifying windows must have U-factor ≤ 0.22.
- Eligibility: Rocky Mountain Power residential electric customer in Idaho (existing homes). Home must have electric heating and/or central A/C. Doors qualify only if ≥80% glass and meet U-factor ≤ 0.22.
- Application process: Apply within 90 days of installation. Provide account number, itemized receipt, and NFRC U-factor documentation. Rebates are typically issued after approval.

Idaho Falls Power – Residential Weatherization Rebates & 0% Loans
Idaho Falls Power provides generous rebates (or the option of a zero-interest loan) for window, patio door, insulated exterior door, and insulation upgrades. A free pre-project energy consultation is required.
- Rebate amount: Windows: $12–$16 per square foot of window glass replaced (higher incentives for replacing single-pane or aluminum-frame double-pane windows). New windows must be U-factor ≤ 0.30. Insulated exterior doors are also eligible (rebate confirmed during audit). 0% interest loans (up to 60 months) are available in lieu of rebates.
- Eligibility: Idaho Falls Power residential customer with permanently installed electric heat as the primary heat source. Existing homes only. Free energy consultation/audit and pre-approval required.
- Application process: Schedule the required audit, receive written recommendations and estimated rebate amounts, complete installation (contractor or DIY), then IFP verifies and issues the rebate or sets up the 0% loan.

Idaho Power – Income-Qualified Weatherization (Free Upgrades)
For eligible low- and near-low-income households heated with electricity, Idaho Power funds free energy-efficiency upgrades through community partners. Improvements may include new energy-efficient windows and exterior doors where recommended by an energy audit.
- Benefit: Free upgrades (often up to ~$6,000 in total value) based on an auditor’s findings—can include new windows/doors, insulation, air sealing, fans, and more.
- Eligibility: Idaho Power residential customer; must meet income guidelines; primary heat is electric. Homeowners and renters can qualify (landlord approval required for rentals).
- Application process: Contact your local Community Action Agency to verify eligibility and schedule an audit. Approved measures are installed at no cost to you.

Idaho Weatherization Assistance Program (Statewide, Income-Qualified)
Idaho’s state-administered Weatherization Assistance Program provides free energy-efficiency improvements for income-qualified households statewide. Work may include window and exterior door upgrades when they are cost-effective.
- Benefit: Free energy-efficiency upgrades identified by a certified auditor (e.g., windows/doors, insulation, air sealing, ventilation, and more).
- Eligibility: Households meeting income requirements; homeowners and renters are eligible (landlord permission required).
- Application process: Apply through your local Community Action Agency. They will assess your home and coordinate improvements if you qualify.

Your Local Electric Cooperative
Many Idaho electric cooperatives (such as Kootenai Electric, Fall River Electric, or Clearwater Power) offer rebates for upgrading old windows and exterior doors. These programs are typically funded through the Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) and are designed to help co-op members reduce electricity use. While each co-op sets its own exact rules, the rebates follow a similar structure.
- Rebate amount: Windows: about $5.00 per square foot of new qualifying window glass. For example, replacing a 15 sq. ft. single-pane window could earn roughly $75 back. Exterior doors: about $40 per insulated, ENERGY STAR® rated door. Some co-ops also set maximum rebate caps (e.g., $600 total for windows).
- Eligibility: Must be a residential member of the cooperative and your home must typically use electric heat as the primary heating source. Rebates apply to existing homes only (not new construction). Old windows must generally be single-pane or aluminum-frame double-pane, and replacement windows must meet ENERGY STAR standards (U-factor ≤ 0.30).
- Application process: Contact your local co-op before starting the project. Most require pre-approval or an energy audit to confirm your current windows/doors qualify. After installation, submit invoices, NFRC labels, and rebate forms. Rebates are usually paid as a check or a credit on your electric bill.
- Limitations: Rebates are first-come, first-served each funding cycle and expire if you do not complete the work within 3–6 months of approval. Rebates cannot exceed the project cost, and you cannot claim multiple BPA-funded incentives for the same window or door.
